Fighting Obesity in Contemporary Society
Which
is better to help fight obesity: eating healthily or exercising?
The contemporary society is today facing
the obesity epidemic which threatens upbringing healthy people in society. Many
people are suffering from obesity today and it puts them at a lot of health
risks. Children have not been spared as also suffer directly from obesity.
Obesity which is excess fat condition in the body, places people at risk of
other diseases and it’s very vital for obese people to contain intake of fats
or lose weight. So which is better to help fight obesity: eating healthily or
exercising?
Obesity can be fought today by observing healthy
eating or exercising. The similarities between healthy eating and exercising are
because all are good practices that keep the body functioning in normal way. Obesity
is caused by poor habits of eating foods with high calories and sodium density
and failing to lose the excess fats in body. Just like healthy eating,
exercising help check the intake of fats in the body. Eating healthily ensures only
foods that will help the body are taken in just like routine exercising in the gym
or walking burns excess fat from the body. People are what they eat and exercising
enables them to be who they want to be. Altogether obese people can inherently fight
obesity through the two similar practices.
In the differences, healthy eating is
simple choice while exercising as a way to get rid of excess fats in the body
may be challenging to some people. Strenuous exercises may be a problem to people
with disabilities while healthy eating may not be after all. Whereas extreme
exercises may result to negative body impacts like blood sugar drop, healthy
eating does not have side-effects. Loss of weight can be achieved through healthy
eating and the person practicing it does not put a lot effort in it as opposed
to exercising. Healthy eating may not require a specialist while strenuous
exercises require advice from nutrition professional. The effort required in
healthy eating is minimal and thus simple way to fight obesity as opposed to
exercising which at times leaves the person engaged in it exhausted.
In conclusion, medical experts once
and again have been supporting prevention as the better option than treatment.
I strongly advocate for healthy eating because it prevents one getting obese
and reduces risks of getting other diseases rather than exercising because an
obese person may not have the energy and time for exercises.
